The almost complete Barn!

These two photos arrived in my email on Christmas Day. The door windows are still missing, but other than that, everything looks great!

The aftermath

Everything is finished excepting for the garage doors. We find that someone dropped the ball and never ordered them. Then they also forgot to order the windows for the garage doors. It wasn't until December that everything got installed, but our barn turned out great. Here are a few last pictures taken on the following day:
In the meantime, my Rhodies that I ordered online have arrived & they are now planted, along with a tiny white picket fence to discourage truck drivers from plowing through my plants. We are getting ready to return to San Marcos, hoping that everything will survive until our return!

Barn Building Day #12

These pictures were for the most part, taken later in the day after the cement mixer had already backed into the barn and dumped much of the concrete. Yes, our barn is big enough to do that!
The crew consisted of a family of brothers, all of Norwegian heritage (blond locks & blue eyes) who did an outstanding job of working together. We plan to use them to build the foundation of our house.
We are very pleased with the finished project. The guys did a great job!

Barn Building Day #11

The crew comes out this Sunday to prep for the concrete pour the next day. Here they are shown laying the moisture barrier and building molds for the thresholds to the 2 "man" doors.
I love the doggy footprints on the moisture barrier. They were well trained dogs, never once stepping onto the wet concrete. It appears everything is ready for the big day tomorrow.

Barn Building Day #9

It's Friday the 13th, and I don't think anyone showed up for work! Perhaps rain kept them away. Only took 3 photos today, and regretfully they are a little on the dark side, but you will get the idea.

Barn Building Day #8

The barn is beginning to take shape. Here you can see the insulation, siding & windows have been added. Now the wainscoting is being installed as well.
This next set of pics show the inside insulation, the side windows along with the side man door entrance.
And this last picture shows the front of the barn in it's present state.

Barn Building Day #7

Another big truck arrives, this time full of the metal roofing and siding. Things are truly hopping!
These last two pictures show the color of the metal siding and the package containing the two "man" doors. Everything is looking good!

Barn Building Day #6

For reasons I no longer remember, the crew was unable to return until the following week. Nearly the end of September, the work continues.
Now it is possible to see where the two large RV doors in the front, the "man" door also in the front, and the two smaller garage doors for autos along with one additional "man" door on the west side of the barn will be placed. It's coming together!
The rolls of blue packaging is the insulation, ready to be installed.

Barn Building Day #5

By the end of the day, the barn is really beginning to take shape. Bob can hardly contain himself!
In the meantime, I have acquired more bulbs to plant and the bench, chairs & table I ordered have arrived. I'm ready for another busy weekend!

Barn Building Day #4

Today the rafters and ceiling will come into shape.
As you can see, the edge of the slab on what will eventually be a concrete floor has also been placed. Now you can see the sides and ceiling rafters being built.
We're having so much fun watching this go up & can hardly wait until tomorrow!
