We drive towards the north end of this island to find an observation tower. Although clouds are closing in, we climb up and take these pictures.
The thing that strikes us the most about this island is everyone seems to have a freshly painted house with a brightly colored roof. I realized that it is impossible to force everyone to paint their house each year, but finally figure out that everyone has vinyl siding. No paint needed, just a power washer, and voila', you have a house which looks freshly painted!
As you can see, the clouds catch up to us, but despite summer showers, we continue our tour of the island.
After our visit to this church and cemetery, we stop at the harbor and have our sack lunch and watch the ships go by.
This is a great side trip, and next to old Quebec, this island is on our
"must do list."
