It took a few days to arrive at the KOA just south of Montreal, where we are greeted by dear friends Michael and Diane Roy. There is one unsung advantage of driving through Ontario first: all the government signs (meaning street and highway signs, directions, rules of the road, etc.) are first in English, and then about 50 feet later, repeated in French. Ontario is a fairly large Provence, but fortunately, by the time you drive through Ontario, you will recognize all the highway signs which magically turn into french only, when you cross the border into Quebec. You won't know how to pronounce the words, but you should be able to recognize the meaning!
On day one of touring Montreal, Michel and Diane take us to Maison Smith in Park Royal, which has fabulous views of the city. What a great way to get acquainted with the city layout!
How fabulous is the ceiling in this hall, used for weddings, and many other functions?
The views of the city are amazing, even on this cloudy overcast day.
We hike over to the highest point, where this cross is somewhat hidden by the trees. I take a picture of Bob and Michael.
Bob mentions to me that I never seem to post pictures of myself, so, to prove that I am really hear - voila'!
Now leaving Mont Royal, we are in old Montreal, as evidenced by the cobble stone streets and former horse and carriage road. An Auberge is a type of Inn. I take this picture to show the vibrant colors in this city.
