Lake Pend Oreille

Sandpoint Idaho is known as a haven for railroad enthusiasts. This station, shown above, was roped off for construction purposes, but we are told 40 - 50 trains go through here daily. We come to see Lake Pend Oreille, which by the way, is pronounced as Lake Pond-er-ray.

Our first stop, however, is for lunch. Look at the view we enjoy!

Our next stop is on the Shawnodose for a ninety minute tour. We are excited as I've been wanting to do this for more than a decade. The lake is beautiful.

We are all smiles as we take in the many great homes along the lake shore. Although not as big and pretentious as those around Lake Coeur d'Alene, these homes seem infinitely home livable.

Bob and the Captain share a moment as our cruise continues.

Hey, where did the Statute of Liberty come from? Notice she is facing the shore, not the water! Oh well. A subtle hint, perhaps of enough already, from the locals????

We now our walking the city park. Nice, huh? Even this seagull cooperates, thanks to my new little camera with a 20 times optical zoom!
