Wow, it's been a long journey, but finally we arrive for 4 nights in Whitehorse. We can hardly wait to check the city out!
Our first day consists of a walking tour. We want to get a feel for this city and attempt to take photos of many of the city murals. What fun!
There's a good story here. I'm holding my "stash" of Starbucks coffee. My burr grinder bit the dust, and I had been trying to grind our espresso beans with my food processor with poor results. So, now with a city with
two Starbucks, I went in an ordered and paid for a pound of ground espresso beans along with our drink order.
After about 10 minutes, I realized she had forgotten about my order. I also realized after watching her grind beans, that I had forgotten Canada uses the metric system. She obviously hadn't a clue how much a pound was, and she never thought to look at all the sacks of beans for sale on the shelves clearly marked "one pound." I made out like a bandit!
Next we enjoy lunch at this place which could be right out of
Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. You can be the judge. Lots of color here!
Next we continue our walk through town into a park and a cemetery.
After our walk through town and taking the photo from the hill of more or less the entire town, we went over to the float plane base and took one more picture.
Tomorrow we take the river boat tour on the Klondike River.
