We need an easy day, so opt for a gold mining tour and panning opportunity. Here we are at the Eldorado Mine. Although it seems like we will have the tour to ourselves, they hadn't let the passengers out of the tour buses yet!
While waiting for the tour bus passengers, we are royally entertained. I'm sure we received information on this gentleman's name and CDs, but as of this posting, the whereabouts remain a mystery. He was good!
Now we're at the demonstration phase of our tour. We are all out of the train and have riveted our attention on the techniques necessary for successful gold panning. This guy makes it look easy!
Lesson over, we are now on our own. Bob and I panned a grand total of about $12 worth of gold! Not enough to either do anything with or even have bragging rights.
In the gift shop, we get a kick out of this t-shirt which we did not buy. It cost more than our new stash of gold.
After all this work, it's time for dinner and a brew. We are told the Silver Gulch is the place to go. We weren't disappointed
On our way home, we come across the best viewing spot for the Alaska Pipeline. Here are a few pictures of what we see:
