As you can see, yes it's raining. For most of this trip we enjoyed good weather. It's kind of humorous that on picture taking days, we had snow for the beginning in Dawson Creek and rain today in Delta Junction, 1,422 miles later.
I am standing on the R, wearing the burgundy rain jacket with my hood pulled up, and Bob is slightly to my rear, wearing is black fuzzy hat. Will Triplett our leader, is taking the picture, complete with raindrops on his lens. We made it! Each of us received a certificate to prove our journey.
Yes, it is now rainy and cold. But we have learned the weather changes often this far north. Almost every day we've had a little rain and a little shine. We're in the liquid shine phase.
The highway before us was built about 20 years prior to the building of the Alaska Highway, which is why this is designated as the end of the Alaska highway.
Soon we will be in Fairbanks. Bob and I learn that Delta Junction is aptly named and this is an immense area of river deltas coming together. The area is very flat and the rivers are full of glacial silt and look like a mix of watery concrete. Off to Fairbanks!
