Our next stop is just north of Petoskey, at the beautiful Hearthside Grove Resort. Fortunately we are comped for 3 of our 4 nights. This resort & the Signature Resort are ownership parks, and come with a hefty price tag when you rent; but look at what you get! This resort has cottages of about 10' x 12' feet, just enough room for a 3/4 bath, studio type kitchen, sleeper sofa and loft above.
Our neighbors directly across the street have a cottage & a cute kitty named Chesterfield. He is allowed to roam freely, and is very friendly. At least he seems to enjoy posing for this photo.
Now we are in Elk Rapids, about 40 miles to the south for a day's visit. We put Nehal's suggestion to good use & opt for lunch at Siren Hall, an excellent choice.
It is interesting to learn this restaurant used to be a garage. Today it's squeaky clean & ultra modern.
After lunch, we walk over to the Harbor & take a few pictures.
Walking back to the car, I get another photo of this colorful bear & a few more pictures of the town.
On Wednesday we visit The Legs Inn. Since I've posted pictures last year, I'm only including a few here. It is a wonderful Polish restaurant, and we eat the items they make themselves; i.e. sausages, sauerkraut, beet salad, & crumb cake with fresh berries - yummy! Note the many wooden carvings, beautiful back yard setting & views of Lake Michigan with 4 lighthouses.
Our drive continues north towards Mackinac City, and just before the road turns inward, we run into this beach to take a nice walk & these pictures. Enjoy!
Coming up next: Frankenmuth - the most visited town in Michigan!
